The Presidential Commissioner for Foreign Relations, Julio Borges, highlighted the magnitude of the humanitarian crisis that has caused millions of citizens to flee Venezuela in search of a better future.
“Venezuela, despite not experiencing a war like the one in Afghanistan, doubles the number of refugees from this country by much,” Mr. Borges said in a message released through his official network accounts.
The highest diplomatic representative of the Legitimate Government recalled that the Venezuelan migration crisis is the second on the planet, and if the regime continues in power, it could overcome the exodus from Syria.
“5.6 million Venezuelan refugees, this is a number that exceeds the population of countries like Panama, Costa Rica and Uruguay,” he added.
Similarly, the Presidential Commissioner pointed out that these figures reflect the drama that Venezuelans are experiencing due to an indolent regime.
“That is why the world must not stop pressing for change,” concluded Mr. Borges.
