“The future of the region depends on the return of democracy in Venezuela,” said Presidential Commissioner for Foreign Affairs Julio Borges, referring to the denunciation by the Colombian Defense Minister, who revealed that Maduro’s dictatorship provides weapons to guerrilla and irregular groups.
Borges said that the regime has turned Venezuela into a failed state, where no law exists, and stressed the threat it poses to the region.
“Thanks to the regime Venezuela is a failed state where there is no law or sovereignty, it is a threat to the hemisphere,” he added.
Holmes Trujillo said Thursday that the Colombian government has evidence that the Venezuelan armed forces have supplied arms to the ELN and FARC dissidents, particularly in areas along the border with Venezuela, which poses a latent threat to peace and stability in Colombia and Latin America.
Maduro gave Venezuela to the guerrillas
During the discussion on the new ‘Commitment for the Future of Colombia’, the President of Colombia, Iván Duque, denounced that the ELN guerrillas are operating with cells in the mining area of Venezuela and that members of the National Guard are “triangulating arms from other countries, particularly Russia and Belarus, to these structures in the border areas”.
On the other hand, he denounced that the dictatorship is trying to acquire short and long range missiles through Iran.
