The presidential commissioner for the United Nations (UN), Miguel Pizarro, announced the entry into Venezuela of a new shipment of humanitarian aid from the International Federation of the Red Cross.
Pizarro said that this shipment consists of 13 tons of supplies to attend to the pandemic. He also clarified that the objective of this humanitarian aid is to save the lives of the most vulnerable Venezuelans.
Today, Tuesday August 11th, 2020, maritime cargo arrived in the country from the International Federation of the Red Cross (IFRC) and the Venezuelan Red Cross. This shipment contains 13 tons of supplies including: medical supplies and medicines to support Venezuela in the midst of the pandemic that is currently sweeping the world.
We reiterate that these supplies are being sent specifically to help save the lives of Venezuelans and to remedy the precariousness of the health system. Humanitarian aid supports the country and reaches Venezuela as a result of the solidarity of countries, governments and multilateral organizations.
Finally, we would like to thank the International Federation of the Red Cross and the Red Cross of Venezuela and the donors who make this aid possible for Venezuelans. And we recall that humanitarian space and humanitarian principles must be respected.
