The Presidential Commissioner for the UN Miguel Pizarro, applauded the entry of the United Nations World Food Program (WFP) to Venezuela.
“Despite the obstacles, finally the WFP has access to the country and through food programs they will be able to help, in an escalating way, 1.5 million Venezuelan children suffering food insecurity,” announced the senior official of the Legitimate Government in a message published through his social network account.
The World Food Program plans to provide school meals in the first instance in Venezuela.
In this sense, after their arrival in the country, WFP reported that they will prioritize the care of the most vulnerable children.
For his part, David Beasley, Executive Director of WFP, indicated in a statement that the application of the program is governed by the humanitarian principles of humanity, neutrality, impartiality and operational independence.
“We have the support of the international donor community to support our operation in Venezuela,” concluded Beasley.
