The Commissioner for the United Nations, Miguel Pizarro, supported the protest of the health workers in Venezuela, who demanded better salaries and the provision of protective equipment in order to fight the Covid-19 pandemic.
Likewise, the Commissioner recognized that doctors, nurses and the rest of the hospital personnel work with their nails (the skin of their teeth) to try to provide quality service in the health centers.
“Our support and recognition to them, who day by day struggle in the hospitals with the worst conditions and with a salary that is not even enough to satisfy the most basic needs,” he said this Thursday through his personal Twitter account.
The healthcare workers warned that if the state does not comply with their demands for better wages and medical equipment in 15 days, they will start a national protest.
