The First Lady, Fabiana Rosales, recalled that 13 years ago, the dictatorship and Hugo Chávez’ regime, closed the signal of Radio Caracas Television (RCTV).
“Thirteen years ago authoritarianism closed the signal of RCTV and with it the fate of hundreds of families, 13 years ago they ratified its dictatorial character and the fear of freedom of expression,” said Fabiana Rosales through her personal Twitter account.
She also insisted that after the flagship channel went off the air in Venezuela, the dictatorship began to intensify its attack on the media and closed down hundreds of stations.
“They established their communicational hegemony, but the Venezuelan youth who claim democracy also reacted,” she added.
The First Lady said that the regime will not be able to stop the work of the media professionals who daily honor their mission, which is to serve the community.
“RCTV will return and will do so in a democracy,” she concluded.
