“In the eyes of the world the atrocities committed by the dictatorship, and that we have denounced, make Venezuela once again a protagonist in the UN Human Rights Council,” said the President in Charge of Venezuela, Juan Guaidó.
The National President stated that after the update of the Report of the Fact Finding Mission for Venezuela, it was clear that the fraud of last December 6th was not a free or fair election and also reiterated that the dictatorship intends to annihilate the democratic alternative.
“There are still political prisoners, in addition to persecution and torture of dissidents (…) The update of the Report mentions the extrajudicial executions committed by the FAES,” he said, recalling that the UN demanded the dissolution of this repressive body.
Guaidó thanked the countries of the international community that raised their voices at the UN Human Rights Council on the serious situation demanding strong action in Venezuela.
“The Mission will continue investigating human rights violations as well as the identification of those responsible, necessary to do justice and repair the victims,” he concluded.
In its most recent update presented this Wednesday, the International Independent Fact Finding Mission of the UN on Venezuela, warned that there is evidence of cases of extrajudicial executions, forced disappearances, arbitrary detentions, torture, and cruel, inhuman treatment committed by government agents of Nicolás Maduro’s regime and stressed that it has not collaborated to clarify the facts and has provided support to ‘colectivos’ (armed pro-goverment gangs) and paramilitary groups.
