The ‘union of all factors’ is the key to achieve the transition that is so urgent in Venezuela, said the President of the country and of the National Assembly (NA), Juan Guaidó, during the Forum “Encounters for Venezuela”, that debated this Thursday about democratization and justice.
“Last Sunday (August 2nd), 27 political parties, united and together through a public document, rejected the farce of December 6th. More political organizations have joined this action, which already has international backing, and it is being debated in order to have the support of other sectors of society. We are united in achieving a transition despite the attacks.
At the online meeting, Guaidó said that the dictatorship cannot be allowed to win through attrition or through habit, which would be natural. He also indicated that it is indispensable and necessary to exercise the majority in the midst of the complex context due to the presence of the pandemic in the country. This is the reason why mechanisms are being designed to be able to retake the streets and advance in the fight for change.
The Acting President said that just as guarantees are necessary for the sectors that maintain the regime, such as the National Armed Force (FAN), so are pressure mechanisms.
“There is no Latin American dictatorship that compares with the one in Venezuela today which has been the cause of the migration of five million Venezuelans. It keeps seven million at risk of death due to the Complex Humanitarian Emergency they originated”.
The Forum was attended by Julio Borges, Presidential Commissioner for Foreign Affairs; Juan Miguel Matheus, Congressman and President of the Special Commission for the Defense of the Constitution; Roberto Ampuero, former Foreign Minister of Chile; and Andrés Molano, specialist in Constitutional Law.
