President (e) Juan Guaidó praised and congratulated the whole team that made possible the Heroes of Health Bonus program that has benefited more than 65 thousand medical and nursing workers who received their payment in spite of all the difficulties. An effort that is part of the fight for economic freedom and of all of Venezuela.
The interim president held a meeting with the beneficiaries of the Heroes of Health Bonus program. Around 5 thousand people connected in this online meeting where they expressed their gratitude for making this payment possible. This will help them to solve the burden of the crisis that all Venezuelans are going through and to continue supporting and executing their work in the healthcare sector in the country’s hospitals and health centers at a time when Venezuela is facing the COVID-19 pandemic.
He publicly recognized all those who made possible this payment to be made and materialize to health workers. Also, the Special Commission, formed by the Commissioner for Health of the Presidency Julio Castro, Congressmen Manuela Bolívar, Juan Velazco, Marco Bozo, and Doctor Hilda Rubí.
“I recognize those who made this payment possible to those who are today in the front line of defense protecting and caring for the health of Venezuelans. These healthcare heroes who have even given their lives, 30 percent is the mortality rate of healthcare workers as a result of the complex humanitarian crisis, the corruption of the regime, the disaster that is in the country’s healthcare system.
He directly congratulated Dr. Julio Castro, Daniela Liendo, Manuela Bolivar, Marco Bozo, Hilda Rubi, who have made a great effort to make this program a reality. “The national parliament supported this initiative from the beginning so that everyone could have this tool to fight.”
He affirmed that today in Venezuela people fight for two fundamental things: to survive, which in Venezuela is a full time job, with dignity, with effort and work, but also for freedom. “We must be very clear that today without freedom, without democracy, without fundamental rights there is no dignity, work, effort, there is no legacy to our children to our families, there is no happiness. The recognition that is given today to the heroes of health is not because we have a dictatorship, it is because we resist a dictatorship, because we confront it, because we do not bend, because we do not lower our heads, we continue forward, that is the difference today in Venezuela”.
He added that there is a dictatorship that wants to morally, physically, politically liquidate the Venezuelan, as it is stated in the report of the UN Fact-Finding Mission for crimes against humanity.
“It is a silent genocide and you see it in the first person when you see the state of our hospitals, our healthcare centers, the little bio-protection of our doctors, nurses, administrative staff and workers.”
He stressed that the health bonus has to do with financial freedom. “Never again ask anyone for a card, never again ask someone their ideological tendency or what they think. Be free to be able to exercise your profession and enjoy the money earned by the sweat of your brow and not be controlled anymore, much less by a food allowance and even a bonus”.
He assured that this is a glimpse of the future in democracy and freedom in Venezuela when this regime falls, where there will be salary protection, that is why with the healthcare heroes a strong currency was used as is the dollar, he insisted that they were not asked for a (party) card but an identity card and to be Venezuelan.
Upon taking the floor, Dr. Julio Castro announced that through the José María Vargas Plan with the liberation of some funds, they have advanced in improving the conditions of the areas of patients with COVID-19, such as the intensive care units, emergency units, ventilators that will soon be brought in to improve the attention of patients who are severely compromised by the coronavirus.
“We have placed emphasis on protective equipment for all healthcare personnel. We know that what has been done so far is not enough, but we are determined to try to obtain as much funding as possible so that this protective equipment reaches those who need it most.”
Congressman Juan Carlos Velazco said that this support for the health heroes comes to occupy a space to meet the basic needs of the family. “I am convinced that among the many positive actions that have been taken by the interim government, they are aimed at executing a strategy to achieve freedom and democracy in the country”.
While Congressman Marco Bozo indicated that the congressmen and the interim government are working and fighting for a free Venezuela, hand in hand with all workers, and that all may be able to receive this benefit.
For her part, Congresswoman Manuela Bolívar was emphatic in pointing out that the health bonus means freedom, to choose and buy what they want. “This payment is freedom for them to protect their families. The only thing I ask is that you support and continue working and helping the patients who come to the hospitals asking for help, even if they don’t have medicines, but at least that they have someone who is there holding their hand”.
Likewise, Dr. Hilda Rubí said that so far, 70 percent of the bonus payments have been executed. Of that universe of people, most are women and family supporters, which means that this contribution will play a fundamental role in feeding and sustaining many Venezuelan families.
The president of the College of Nurses, Ana Rosario Contreras, said that this contribution to the doctors, nurses and healthcare workers means a “drop of oxygen” in the midst of this mechanical asphyxiation. An acknowledgement made by the interim government, to those who risk their lives daily.
I formally request President Juan Guaidó to study the possibility of extending this benefit to the heroes of the healthcare sector who were not able to register on time, and who are in great need.
“We need a national emergency government so that all the health workers don’t lose focus. We can’t keep asking Maduro for collective contracts or salary increases, he is deaf, blind and mute. He gives priority to buying electoral machines, to stay in power, so I invite the comrades in the health sector to raise our voice of protest and to accompany the country’s education sector on October 5 and fight for the country’s freedom.”
