“Tragic year.” This is how the President (e) of Venezuela, Juan Guaidó, defined the 365 days that today October 8 elapsed after the “murder” of Councilman Fernando Albán, which occurred at the headquarters of the Bolivarian Intelligence Service (Sebin), when he was allegedly thrown from the tenth floor.

“A year ago we held the vigil here (in the National Assembly) of Councilman Fernando Albán. He had arrived in the country after accompanying Julio Borges to meetings within the framework of the UN General Assembly 73 when he was kidnapped at the Maiquetía airport. They tortured him to death and simulated that he leapt through a window.”

The statements were also offered by the also president of the national Parliament when he was approached on arrival at the Federal Legislative Palace for the ordinary session on Tuesday.

He also recalled that so far there has been no justice for the relatives of the Primero Justicia party councilor, nor for the country. He said that is the “cost of opposition in Venezuela.”

“That is the dictatorship in a country that murders a good, noble man like Fernando Albán through torture, who has not been the only one, because it happened to Captain Acosta Arévalo and many others who have been tortured or simply killed product of persecution. For us it is very painful.”

The President in charge of the country also assured that they remain “firm and standing” in the Parliament and the streets of Venezuela to do justice and to recover that normality that Venezuelans long for.

About Ecuador

Solidarity with his Ecuadorian counterpart, Lenin Moreno and with the Ecuadorian people and respect for the institutions of that “sister country”, Guaidó said.

“Yesterday (Monday) we saw how Lenin Moreno talked about how Maduro was complicit in the process (violent acts in Ecuador) orchestrated during the Sao Paulo Forum. It is not the first time that Venezuela has financed not only these types of actions, but also campaigns; remember the famous case of the briefcase in Argentina, and the financing of Petrocaribe ”.

He defined as a “tragedy” that Maduro uses money from Venezuelans to try to destabilize the region when “he is responsible for the crisis that Venezuelans are experiencing.”

He also informed that Guillermo Lazo, an opponent of Lenin Moreno in the presidential elections, contacted him to ask for support (backing) for the institutions.

Regarding the alleged presence of the former president of Ecuador, Rafael Correa, in Venezuela, he said that what is known is that he is not in that country because he has an arrest warrant for different corruption cases linked, mostly to Venezuela

“He was in Venezuela, we don’t know if still is, we are trying to activate information mechanisms that allow us to ascertain this. We have no doubt that he, Correa, could be here (in Venezuela).”
