The political representatives of the main democratic forces in Venezuela held a joint press conference and rejected the maneuver of the judicial arm of Nicolas Maduro’s dictatorship to take over the electoral cards, symbols and logos of their organizations to try to ‘validate’ their next electoral show.
Henry Ramos Allup, a deputy in the National Assembly and secretary general of Democratic Action (AD), said the dictatorship began these attacks after realizing that the National Assembly was moving towards consolidation for fair elections. “Then it occurred to them to take the cards away from the parties, so that the cards would be on the ballot and pretend that Acción Democrática, Primero Justicia and Un Nuevo Tiempo were participating.
“The rigged National Assembly that is going to come out of that CNE is not going to be recognized by any country in the international community, this Assembly is going to continue to be recognized, and we have to prepare ourselves to continue being deputies until there are constitutional elections,” he said.
Later, the president in charge of Venezuela, Juan Guaidó, took the floor and warned the dictatorship that the actions taken by the self-styled TSJ to kidnap political parties and appoint a false CNE will have a worse result for the regime than those obtained in 2018. “Today they have less international support than in 2018, they have less money, their front men are in prison, as will end up those who do not side with the Constitution.”
“The fraudulent elections of 2018 ended up importing gasoline from Iran, 15 million dollars in reward for the dictator, that’s how those elections ended. Now this CNE story, how do you think it’s going to end? I’ll tell you, much worse,” said the president.
For his part, the deputy to the National Assembly, Alfonso Marquina, a member of the national leadership of Primero Justicia, reiterated that “in Venezuela there is no rule of law, and that is the motive our struggle, the goal of these parties is a National Emergency Government that allows for the convening of presidential elections.”
“If the solution for Venezuela were to have a new National Assembly, we would have made our positions available long ago, but the solution for Venezuela is to remove Nicolás Maduro from Miraflores,” he said.
Next, the Zulia deputy Nora Bracho, representing Un Nuevo Tiempo, denounced that “we have received during the press conference the news that this self-styled TSJ has issued a request to strip Un Nuevo Tiempo of its cards. I must tell all the sectors that they can take away our cards but they cannot take away the love of the people or prevent us from continuing to fight for all the Venezuelans who are suffering today.”
“We are going to continue fighting for you to have a future in this country, each one of us who is persecuted today represents a thousand who are behind it. From UNT we maintain our integrity in our struggle for democracy, because we need a different country from the one we are living in,” she said.
Furthermore, the deputy for Encuentro Ciudadano, Delsa Solórzano, indicated that these measures of the dictatorship have united even more all the democratic parties of the country with the objective of removing Nicolás Maduro. “The reality is that the party militancy is carried out by principle, values, feeling and honesty. All those dishonest people don’t know that the people who militate with us don’t do it for money but out of conviction.”
Finally, the former mayor of Chacao Emilio Graterón, representing Voluntad Popular Party, called for unity among all factors and sectors of the country. “It is the moment to activate ourselves with more courage than ever, in the queue for gasoline, food, and gas, there we will see each other because we will continue working for Venezuela, day by day without stopping until we achieve freedom, we will not stop until the usurpation stops.”
“The more they pursue us, the more organized and committed they are going to find us by fighting for Venezuela,” he concluded.
