The President In Charge of Venezuela, Juan Guaidó, presented this Thursday, February 25th, a proposal to achieve a political solution to the conflict and especially to the humanitarian emergency that Venezuela is experiencing, for which he urged Venezuelans to raise their spirit and hope to move the country forward.
President Guaidó held a meeting with political and social leaders of Miranda State, to whom he presented a political proposal that must also have a strategy, a plan that helps people to channel their anxieties, fears, “let them know that they are not alone, a useful plan that must be executable, feasible and achievable, without these variables is poetry,” he pointed out.
He affirmed that there is no political solution if there is no union and a political leadership with no exclusion. “We must seek the maximum and best possible union at this time that Venezuela is going through, that is the fundamental vehicle to achieve the solution, this is the only tool that has produced results in recent years in the country.”
He pointed out that for years very good unity has been built, as sole candidates for presidents, governors and mayors. “We learned lessons in the 2012 process of primaries, we went with a unique card so as not to disperse the vote. So successful was it that the dictatorship had to make it illegal. The perfect union was achieved, in some two or three circuits it was not achieved and they were lost. We took 112 deputies from the dictatorship. Nobody gave us that, we worked and we fought for it.”
He recognized that the unity has had ups and downs and mistakes must be corrected as was done in 2015. He stressed that on that occasion a pact of parliamentary unity was built, with sufficient political maturity to guarantee governance in the legislature.
“I remind you of all this because the message I want to convey to you is the union of factors is the only vehicle to get out of this dictatorship, that is why they want to end it, that is why there is the ‘little table’ and the ‘scorpions’. The regime invested 35 million euros in the scorpions to try to divide us, but they do not want to put even half of that for vaccines against COVID-19. The scorpions were paid by the one in prison in Cape Verde. By the way, good news is expected in two weeks.”
He stressed that union by itself is not enough, it is necessary to have a clear direction for a political solution to the conflict. “There is no solution without addressing the humanitarian crisis generated by the dictatorship and the defense of human rights in Venezuela, these are not separable. In other words, we cannot ignore this situation, we must attend to it simultaneously.
He argued that we must be clear that we are under a dictatorship and that we are the majority who want changes, those who oppose the regime and reject this political, economic and social model. He insisted that we need a plan that is feasible that works, that addresses the humanitarian crisis.
“For example the COVAX vaccine system, that must be addressed. The health heroes program, the donation from PAHO and the International Red Cross through multilateral agencies, the world food program that does not enter Venezuela because the dictatorship does not want it to, because it is their business and also to have control social through the CLAP (food box program). We must promote the entry of this world food program ”.
