Covid-19 in Venezuela is advancing and cases continue to increase because of the irresponsibility of Maduro’s regime in handling the pandemic, said the Presidential Commissioner for the Health and Healthcare Emergency for migrants, José Manuel Olivares.
“The death, chaos and suffering of hundreds of Venezuelan families are not caused by any Brazilian strain, the only culprit is Nicolás Maduro and his policy of hiding information to implant a false normality,” he denounced. He also recalled that although the regime has 24 facilities available to carry out PCR-type tests to help diagnose and prevent infections, they do not use them.
Olivares warned that 71% of intensive care units nationwide are collapsed due to the number of cases of coronavirus. He explained that through the monitoring network of doctors in the country, it is known that the infected are reaching healthcare centers “extremely deteriorated”, when the care of health professionals no longer has the capacity to respond.
Furthermore, he called on Venezuelans to take care of themselves and protect themselves from the ‘incapacity of Maduro’ and be attentive to the symptoms that they may present: “As the regime does not protect anyone, it is up to you to be part of the solution. Wash your hands, avoid closed spaces and wear a mask.”
The Commissioner insisted on the need to work to promote public policies that save the lives of Venezuelans and achieve the immunization of the entire population and not just those “friends of the regime.”
