The Presidential Commissioner for the Government Center, Leopoldo López, was received in the Congress of Deputies of Madrid by the President of the Popular Party, Pablo Casado, whom he thanked for his commitment to the freedom of Venezuela, which López considers, requires unity without ideological distinctions.
“Freedom is an abstract concept, which is not known until you have it. I knew what freedom was when I was locked up in a 2×2 cell and that is when I understood what freedom is,” he highlighted. “Thank you for your commitment to freedom and democracy and to achieving free, fair and verifiable presidential elections in Venezuela,” López told Pablo Casado.
In his social network Twitter, López referred to the meeting and assured “The cause for freedom in Venezuela requires unity, unity for freedom, unity for free elections, unity to be able to attend the humanitarian tragedy that our people are living. That unity cannot have ideological distinctions”.
For his part, the President of the Popular Party, Pablo Casado, manifested his immense joy for receiving López in the Congress of Deputies. “You are a great friend of Spain, and a person very loved by my family after having left Maduro’s dictatorship to continue defending the freedom of all Venezuelans”.
Casado considers that the role of López will be fundamental for the history of Venezuela and he assured that he has the support of those who defend the cause of freedom in the world. “Years ago I wrote an article and defined you as the Mandela of Venezuela, a person who is going to be fundamental in the history of this country so loved by all Spaniards and who also counts with the support of all of us who defend freedom in the world”, he underlined.
Likewise, the president of the PP assured Leopoldo López that Spain is with him and expressed his hope that very soon there will be free elections in Venezuela and a peaceful transition to democracy.
