The President of the Republic, Juan Guaidó, issued a public letter in which he congratulated his counterpart from the Dominican Republic, Luis Abinader, on his inauguration this Sunday, August 16th.
Guaidó emphasized that the Dominican Republic is a key nation in the definitive solution to the crisis that Venezuela is experiencing.
The following is the complete letter:
Mr. Luis Abinader
President of the Dominican Republic
Your Excellency, receive a cordial greeting.
On behalf of the Venezuelan people I would like to congratulate you on your recent assumption of office, in view of the fact that you have been privileged by the electoral preference and confidence of your people in the past elections.
In Venezuela we are carrying out a long struggle against the criminal regime of Nicolás Maduro who, in violation of our constitution, usurps the Presidency of the Republic. Therefore, considering the Dominican Republic a key nation in contributing to the definitive solution of the complex humanitarian crisis we are living we hope that your nation will support, as the international community has done, our efforts and our proposal to form a National Emergency Government with all the political sectors of Venezuela, while asking you to promote it and encourage it before the world, as the only mechanism that would allow us to prioritize humanitarian and social problems and then hold free, fair and transparent presidential elections.
I bid you farewell by expressing my highest esteem and consideration, and I wish you the greatest success in your administration, for the benefit of all the Dominican people and of integration, freedom and security in the hemisphere.
President of the National Assembly and President (E) of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela
Presidente de la Asamblea Nacional
Presidente (E) de la República Bolivariana de Venezuela
