In the meeting “Italy with Venezuela, insieme Juan Guaidó”, the President (e) of Venezuela and of the National Parliament, Juan Guaidó, asked for one more effort on behalf of the Venezuelans: “We ask you to raise your voice in defense of the legitimate National Parliament and to reject the fraud of December 6th”. Thus, he requested a group of Italian senators that form the Association of Friends for Venezuela, integrated by more than 100 parliamentarians, that includes the heads of all political forces and that support the struggle of the Venezuelans for the restoration of the constitutional order. This is the diplomatic work, that has been key, that Deputy Mariela Magallanes has been developing in representation of the national parliament and of the interests and struggle of the Venezuelan people.

Guaidó said that what was proposed by the dictatorship “is not an election”, since it does not comply with the minimum conditions for competitive elections. Highlighting at the same time that the struggle of Venezuelans, political parties and leaders of democratic forces is for the celebration of free, fair and verifiable presidential and parliamentary elections as the only peaceful mechanism to overcome the serious humanitarian crisis that Venezuelans are going through.

Guaidó denounced the dictatorship headed by Nicolás Maduro as an “usurper regime that systematically violates human rights” during a meeting with Italian senators and deputies.

In their interventions, the various Italian parliamentarians expressed their alarm at the terrible economic and social situation, as well as at the systematic violations of human rights committed by Nicolás Maduro’s regime against Venezuelans.

“The struggle today in Venezuela is not ideological, but for life. We are fighting and demanding free elections to end the crisis generated by the regime. Today we are facing a very complex vulnerable situation, for example: 93 % of the homes in the country do not receive piped water; there is no gasoline in an oil country like Venezuela,” said Guaidó.

The interim President said that the farce of December 6th “is already sung as a fraud” and is not recognized by the world.

“The intention of the regime is to annihilate the democratic alternative and this is what the UN Mission Report states, as well as that the regime systematically violates human rights in Venezuela.

In the meeting “Italy with Venezuela, insieme Juan Guaidó”, deputies of the National Assembly of Italian descent were present. Also participating were Senator Urso (Fratelli D’Italia), moderator of the meeting; Deputy Giorgia Meloni (Fratelli D’Italia); Senator Pierferdinando Casini (AUT); Deputy Emilio Carelli (5 Stelle); Luciano Malan (Forza Italia); Maximiliano Romeo.

The President of the Republic and President of the National Parliament, thanked them for the invitation to this meeting, the support of the Italian people in general, and the welcome they have given to the deputies and the Venezuelans persecuted by the dictatorship.

Deputy Magallanes highlighted the importance of parliamentary diplomacy, as well as the work that the deputies in exile have been doing. “In this important meeting with President Juan Guaidó, in which the different representatives of the different political parties participated, including the deputy of the governing party 5 Stelle, deputy Emilio Carelli, they committed to work on a resolution so that the Italian parliament rejects the electoral farce planned by the regime for next December 6th, reiterating at the same time the unanimous support for the Venezuelan national parliament,” concluded deputy Magallanes.
