President Juan Guaidó thanked the Donald Trump administration, the U.S. Department of the Treasury and Special Representative Elliot Abrams for protecting Venezuela’s assets from the clutches of Nicolas Maduro’s regime.
The president made these statements after the U.S. government ratified its commitment, presented its position to the court and defended CITGO’s actions.
“We will continue to inform the country about the next advances in the defense of CITGO,” he said this Friday through his personal Twitter account.
Guaidó recalled that the Chavez and Maduro regimes are responsible for the risk to which CITGO was exposed. He reiterated that the dictatorship took actions contrary to Venezuela’s interests without consulting the National Assembly.
He also insisted that the legitimate government he leads will continue to defend the nation’s wealth.
“That is why we have put all our efforts into protecting the country’s main asset abroad,” he ended.
