This Tuesday, the President (E) of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Juan Guaidó, met with the Secretary of State of the United States, Antony J. Blinken, in a videoconference.
President Guaidó thanked Secretary Blinken for the support given to the Venezuelan people and the strong relationship that has been generated between Venezuela and the United States, affirming that the support and assistance provided by the United States is something that Venezuelans will not forget.
The national president conveyed to Secretary Blinken the commitment of his government to work in cooperation with the United States and other allies to end the suffering of our nation by significantly increasing humanitarian assistance for the people of Venezuela and overcoming the permanent obstruction of Maduro’s dictatorship, which has systematically used humanitarian aid as blackmail and a weapon and against the people of Venezuela.
The end of the crisis to which the Venezuelan people have been subjected is linked to the generation of a political solution to return Venezuela to its rightful place as regional and global leader, instead of a failed state that needs assistance from the entire international community. Venezuela can solve its own problems, but only when its people can establish their government through free and fair elections that incorporate and use international standards of transparency, pluralism and self-determination. The Head of State and Secretary Blinken agreed to work with the international community to achieve free, fair and transparent presidential and parliamentary elections, in accordance with international standards.
