The President in Charge of Venezuela, Juan Guaidó, congratulated the Olympic athlete Julio Mayora for giving joy and hope to Venezuelans with a silver medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
“This country is full of talented and forward-thinking people, who do not give up even in the most adverse conditions,” highlighted the national president on his social network accounts.
The native of the Vargas State accumulated 150 kg, 154 and 156 kg at the snatch competition.
While in the clean and jerk he achieved 186 and 190, failing in the last attempt.
Mayora won the 18th medal for Venezuela at the Olympic Games and the second in weight lifting after the bronze that Israel Rubio obtained in Athens 2004.
