This Wednesday the political party, Voluntad Popular, denounced the illegal detention by the dictatorship of members of the family of the political leader Javier González, who was accused by Jorge Rodríguez of having links with criminal gangs in Caracas through a montage of WhatsApp screen captures as the only evidence.
González’s mother, brother and cousin were arrested in their residence, located on the ’23 de Enero’ Parrish, in a raid carried out by officials of the dictatorship, who were trying to detain González, however, when they did not find him they attacked his family.
After this event the President in Charge of Venezuela, Juan Guaidó, reiterated that Nicolás Maduro’s regime uses non-existent WhatsApp ‘screen captures’ as an excuse to kidnap and disappear political leaders, including the Deputy of legitimate National Assembly, Freddy Guevara.
“There is no excuse beyond sadism and sowing terror to dissappear the mother and family of a young leader,” said Pres. Guaidó through his Twitter account about the forced disappearance of Javier González’s family.
The national president reaffirmed that the captures of the messaging app presented by Jorge Rodríguez are nothing more than an invention that made them look ridiculous to the world. “It is vulgar persecution. Disappearing people constitutes a crime against humanity,” he categoricaly stated.
Regarding the new tactic of the Nicolás Maduro regime that involves WhatsApp, the application developers clarified last Tuesday that all the conversations on its platform are secure and encrypted.
“We believe that people have the right to private conversation because when privacy is guaranteed, it is easier to be yourself and connect safely. That is why end-to-end encryption is at the core of what we do,” said the message posted on its official Twitter account.
