On Monday, the countries that make up the inter-American defense pact TIAR decided by 16 votes in favor to activate the treaty with the objective of “acting collectively” in the Venezuelan crisis, Colombian Foreign Minister Carlos Holmes Trujillo said.
“I would like to inform you that at the meeting of the Ministers of (Foreign) Relations, acting as the Consultation Body of the TIAR, the resolution was discussed and considering this resolution, it was approved with 16 votes in favor, one against, one abstention and an absence”, the Colombian foreign minister told reporters.
The President (E) of Venezuela, Juan Guaidó, welcomed the support offered by the international community to Venezuela. “We have the support and recognition of the world. Venezuela lives under a dictatorship and together we will exert pressure to find a solution to the crisis”, he said from his personal Twitter account.
