President (E) Juan Guaidó, alerted the country to the serious consequences that the coronavirus can generate in Venezuela due to the great failure of public services and the collapse of the health system.
The president said that the pandemic reached Venezuela at a point of paralysis of public services, economic collapse and food, which is also the result of the complex humanitarian emergency, in addition to the precarious situation of hospitals.
“The truth is, the risk we face is much greater. In Venezuela there could be an excessive increase in the number of infections due to this fragility in services,” he said.
In view of the great humanitarian crisis the country is experiencing, the head of state called for extreme prevention and for the country to assume a general isolation, where he invited citizens to stay in their homes and go out (only) in cases of extreme need.
“A day that we spend in our homes is a day that we beat the pandemic and that allows the virus not to spread any faster,” he explained.
The President in charge reported that the country must increase personal hygiene, wash hands constantly, even understanding the serious problem with the water service, however, he stressed that Venezuelan society must take a stand and “do what is necessary” to protect itself as a family.
Guaidó reiterated that he has a team of health experts who are in contact with the international community, all working on measures to help Venezuela prevent and treat this pandemic. He also assured that as soon as he makes any progress, he will share it with the citizens.
