The Office of the Special Prosecutor of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela expresses its emphatic rejection of the alleged actions taken or to be taken, announced by Tarek William Saab, who usurps the position of Attorney General of the Republic, and furthermore, has become the executing arm of the policies of judicial terrorism and persecution against the members of the National Assembly and the Legitimate Government. In this opportunity, Nicolas Maduro’s dictatorship, through Saab, undertakes the illegal and unconstitutional persecution and intimidation against members of the Venezuelan Diplomacy, members of the Administrative Boards of the decentralized entities, and the former Special Attorney of the Republic, who have obtained significant achievements abroad, not only with the international recognition of the Legitimate Interim Government and the imposition of sanctions to the corrupt officials of the regime but also, and very specially, important decisions of foreign authorities and courts (USA and UK) in the protection of assets of the Republic located outside the national territory.
It should be noted that, in addition to the systematic violation of human rights already documented by the United Nations High Commission, it is precisely Nicolas Maduro and his accomplices who “pawned” 100% of Citgo’s shares (without the authorization of the National Assembly), destroyed the oil industry, and allowed the invasion of the national territory by irregular groups with terrorist links and drug trafficking networks. And recently, they tried to mobilize the gold reserves safeguarded in the United Kingdom, under the false argument that they had agreed to a humanitarian operation, the existence of which was denied by the UNDP, and was reported to the British court which, in the end, recognized the legitimacy of President Guaidó’s government and the ad-hoc Administrative Board of the Central Bank of Venezuela, now under attack by the dictatorship.
The Office of the Special Prosecutor of the Republic expresses its support for the diplomatic corps, the members of the appointed Administrative Boards and the former Special Prosecutor of the Republic. At the same time, it ratifies its commitment to defend the patrimonial interests of the Nation abroad, exercising the necessary actions for the recovery of assets stolen by corruption, and preventing the kleptocratic dictatorship from continuing to take over the assets of the Republic.
