The Legitimate Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela welcomes the measures taken by the Council of the European Union today against 19 members of Nicolás Maduro’s dictatorship. Today Europe has ratified its commitment to the freedom of Venezuela through respect for human rights and the return of democracy to our country.
What happened today is the final example of the failure of the electoral farce launched by the usurper regime last December 6th. After the spokesmen of the dictatorship proclaimed that in 2021 they would ressume the dialogue before the world after stealing the Legislative Power, they have received a firm response from the democracies of the planet. Nor has it served them to bulid a false opposition to their measure, since these same puppets have also ended up sanctioned for their actions against political parties and national institutions.
The message from the European Union is also to human rights violators hiding under lesser-known posts: The consequences of their actions will come. Not being a political appointee does not exempt them from having to face justice for the aberrant policies against so many Venezuelans who have suffered violations of their most basic rights.
It is our duty to reiterate that the solution to the crisis that is worsening every day in our country involves truly free and fair presidential and parliamentary elections. Continuing to deepen the damage to our Republic through electoral farces, repression, and attacks against the country’s democratic forces will only translate into a greater repudiation of the world, translated into new actions against those who continue to participate in them.
