“Today in Venezuela we are fighting to overcome two viruses: the dictatorship and Covid-19,” said Venezuelan President Juan Guaidó during a virtual meeting with the U.S. Charge d’Affaires to Venezuela, James Story.
The Venezuelan president expressed the battle that Venezuelans are waging in the midst of the humanitarian emergency that is plaguing the country due to the irresponsibility and corruption of Nicolas Maduro’s regime.
Guaidó assured that Venezuela, supported by the democratic countries of the world, will achieve its freedom and democracy.
During the virtual meeting, the head of state explained that currently the parties are united in not validating a fraud, although it needs to be consolidated, “it is not as simple as going out and voting”. However, he announced that there will be “a pact to define the ideas and build an understanding, with the intention of creating a consensus”.
James Story and the President-in-Charge insisted on the demand for free elections in the country.
The U.S. chargé d’affaires to Venezuela said that the Donald Trump administration supports the decisions made by the Interim Government in the face of electoral fraud.
