The presidential commissioner for the Government Center, Leopoldo López, warned about the state of vulnerability that Venezuelans face with a pandemic that has only worsened the humanitarian crisis generated by Nicolás Maduro’s regime.

“We are defenseless against the pandemic. The dictatorship destroyed the public healthcare system and pushed millions to leave the country in very vulnerable conditions,” said the senior official of the Legitimate Government.

López thanked the solidarity that Presidents like Iván Duque continue to show daily in Colombia, where more than 500,000 Venezuelans will be vaccinated in the first instance.

“Venezuela faces the largest migration crisis in the region and it will be the largest in the world as of 2021. This crisis caused by the dictatorship needs the attention and help of the whole world,” the presidential commissioner told the international community.

Furtyhermore, he compared the aid that crises such as Syria have received with a financing of U.S. $300 per migrant, while the Venezuelan only received U.S. $40 per migrant.

“Our people need an international support program for the migrant population,” he said.

Finally, he highlighted “the commitment that the President in Charge of Venezuela, Juan Guaidó, has to articulate with our allies and international entities to obtain the best vaccines for Venezuelans, outside and within the country,” he concluded.
