This Monday the First Lady, Fabiana Rosales de Guaidó, expressed her concern on the rise in femicide cases of that have been registered in recent days in the country.
“There were seven femicides in just one week,” denounced Rosales de Guaidó in a message broadcast through her Twitter account.
The wife of the president (e) of Venezuela condemned the atrocious femicides of Areinis Castillo, 35, by police officer José Rodríguez, who set the victim’s home on fire, and the murder of María José López, 23, a Venezuelan who was murdered sttabed by her boyfriend Edinson “Edii” Pereira.
“Painful events that mourn our nation and that ratify the absence of prevention, care, protection and justice policies in Venezuela,” said the First Lady.
Similarly, Rosales de Guaidó demanded justice for the victims of femicide in the country and asked that those responsible be arrested.
“Their perpetrators must go to jail and answer for their crimes,” she said.
Likewise, the First Lady assured that in the country “women are doubly vulnerable in addition to the humanitarian emergency.”
Finally, she underlined the urgency of safeguarding the lives of women victims of violence and of institutions that do not protect them.
