This Sunday Acción Democrática Party commemorated its 79th anniversary in resistance and with the unwavering commitment to fight for Venezuela’s freedom despite the COVID-19 pandemic and Nicolás Maduro’s eagerness to annihilate democracy.
Gathered at the Miranda Sectional Executive Committee, located in Los Teques, the national leadership of the white party, represented by Carlos Prosperi, Secretary of National Organization; and Luis Aquiles Moreno, National Undersecretary General; highlighted the importance of organizing, working and returning to the streets until the constitutional thread is restored.
“The time has come to organize, to take to the streets again and We Will Come Back, comrades,” said Prosperi.
He affirmed that in the social democratic party there is no division, as has been tried to depict, “a small group that has allied itself with the regime to try to take over our political organization.”
“Here there is only one Acción Democrática, represented by our comrade Henry Ramos Allup and in the dignity of the true ‘adecos’. What happened here was that a small group decided to exclude itself and get purged from a political organization that maintains its morals, dignity and ethics,” said the party leader.
Only three divisions
Luis Aquiles Moreno, for his part, recalled that in Acción Democrática there have only been three major divisions: one due to ideological differences, another caused by regional leaderships and the last due to a clash between party founders.
“Whoever tried to give the party the boot by selling himself to ‘Chavismo’ wants to make a simil with the true divisions, when I never heard him intervene where he developed what the doctrinal and ideological proposals of AD were,” he remarked.
He emphasized that in spite of this situation, the majority of the militants remained firm with the institution that is the party, following the example of the Parliamentary Fraction of Acción Democrática that is “solid and close to the national leadership”.
“When people ask where is Henry Ramos Allup we answer he is here, in the timeless Acción Democrática, people say that’s the AD I believe in because that’s the honest, anti-corruption AD we count on to fight to rescue democracy,” he stressed.
No to the electoral burlesque
The national leaders indicated that Acción Democrática, as stated by the National Secretary General, Henry Ramos Allup, will not participate in “the electoral burlesque” called for December 6th.
They recalled that the regime was far from providing the electoral conditions that the opposition has requested for years. For them, what they are trying to do is “impose an electoral fraud” in order to seek a halo of legitimacy.
“They ask us what we are going to do in the face of fraud because, as Alberto Carnevali said, ‘the harder and more cruel the punch of the tyrant, the more discipline and faith’. Comrades, let us not abandon the faith and hope of recovering the Venezuela we have dreamed of. Today, more than ever, we must remain firm,” he emphasized.
Likewise, Moreno urged the militancy to keep faith in the future because “democracy will prevail in the face of tyranny”.
“Soon, very soon, we will live in freedom and democracy again in Venezuela, and Acción Democrática will be at the vanguard of that movement, as it has been historically,” he ended.
