The scarcity of water, air conditioning and the poor functioning of the osmosis plant at the Barquisimeto Dialysis Unit prevents renal patients in Lara State from obtaining their treatment on a regular basis.
The renal patients protested to denounce the lack of attention from the competent authorities and the inefficiency of the regime in attending to the situation that afflicts them and that seriously affects their health.
“We’ve already had a month of incomplete dialysis. We were scheduled for three hours and fifteen minutes, however, from that schedule we are only getting two and a half effective hours. We have to deal with this every day we come to our dialysis,” said Carmen Padilla, a kidney patient.
The dialysis center is paralyzed waiting for the technicians from the company in charge of solving failures to arrive. However, patients still do not get any answers.
In Lara there are 8 dialysis units available to attend approximately 1200 patients in the state. However, of the total at least six units present failures in the osmosis plants, air conditioners, in addition to equipment breakdowns due to lack of maintenance.
