From the ‘Frente Amplio Venezuela Libre’ (FAVL) and on behalf of its member organizations at the national, regional and municipal levels, we reject the latest actions of Nicolás Maduro and his regime. We sympathize with all members of Voluntad Popular, especially those who have been marked with lies by the official spokesman of the dictatorship, who only causes suffering to the country. We also sympathize with the family of Deputy Freddy Guevara who has been kidnapped and, at the time of publication of this statement, he has been retained for more than 48 hours without anybody knowing his whereabouts.
Within our meeting space where the main political and social actors of the country converge, we are aware of the determination with which Voluntad Popular and its representatives, like the rest of the organizations that are part of the FAVL, have committed themselves to the restitution of democracy in Venezuela through a peaceful, constitutional and non-violent path.
The Frente Amplio Venezuela Libre maintains as its objective a solution that as a priority generates well-being for all Venezuelans in the face of the serious crisis that we are experiencing. A solution that will only come when the country begins a transition to democracy through a comprehensive political agreement that allows us (Venezuela) to hold free, fair and democratic presidential, parliamentary, regional and municipal elections.
Together with the political parties of the democratic unitary platform and the leadership of the President in Charge, Juan Guaidó, we will continue to organize and make all efforts to promote a National Salvation Agreement that allows attention to the serious humanitarian crisis that plagues all the Venezuelans, as much attention as the dictatorship gives at this time to our colleagues from Voluntad Popular.
We remain firm on our route and strategic objective, despite the “stick to the lamp” (blackout, censorship) and “kicking the table” of those who today illegitimately usurp power in the service of their interests and with their backs to a country that is experiencing the worst social crisis ever in the hemisphere.
