With the premise of The Unity an alliance of the different political organizations in favor of rescuing democracy and achieving change in Venezuela, the spokespersons before the National Parliament for Lara State, established their position in view of the recent attacks on the country’s opposition political parties.
In an Assembly “In Defense of Party Organizations”, held in the House of the Democratic Action Party (AD) in Barquisimeto, deputies and representatives of the various political parties rejected such actions by the regime.
“The presence and activation of the political rights and constitutional guarantees of all of us who make up the political parties must be exercised. We are in defense of the partisan institutions, together with the high-profile voice of our people in constitutional and peaceful terms,” said Congressman Edgar Zambrano.
He indicated the political desideratum that Venezuela must experience must be established in democratic terms and not at the behest of the abuse of power by those who usurp the country’s institutions.
“This has forced the defense of the political actors of democracy and their organizations”.
To remain and strengthen The Unity, was the message that the Lara leadership sent to all militants and to the Venezuelan people.
Congressman Macario Gonzalez said that “the call is to remain very united, more than ever, in constant assemblies, all united, to continue in the respectable struggle for democracy, to rescue the validity of the constitution and to meet again in the Venezuela of progress once we overcome the ruin in which our country has been plunged.
For his part, parliamentarian Guillermo Palacios expressed his solidarity with the militancy and leadership of the Acción Democrática Party. “We have come to show our solidarity because we know that we will be united with the rest of the organizations that will also be victims of these misdeeds by the dictatorship”.
Oneiber Pereza, also a deputy in the National Assembly, repudiated the siege against the political parties Acción Democrática, Primero Justicia, Un Nuevo Tiempo and the rest of the parties in his opinion, to prevent the free participation of the Venezuelan people.
“Attacking political organizations is closing the possibility for Venezuelans to be able to choose freely. The call is to continue organizing, mobilizing and in the constant struggle to establish the rule of law.”
Hermes Paradas, Secretary General of Primero Justicia in Lara, representing Congressman Alfonso Marquina, highlighted the 78-year history of AD’s democratic struggle, saying that many of his organization’s leaders have had their formarion in the so-called “People’s Party”. I also support the commitment to unity that will allow us to open the doors of freedom in Venezuela.
Congressman Luis Florido sent a message via telephone, in which he mentioned all the attacks that Venezuelan parliamentarians have had to suffer, many of whom are now in exile as a result of the regime’s persecution of those who defend democracy. “Today, the message is to continue fighting against a regime that believes it has appropiated all our rights, but they will never snatch away our right to continue until we achieve change.”
Congresswomen María Teresa Pérez and Bolivia Suárez ratified their commitment to the struggle for the people of Lara and with the democratic allies in each municipality, parish and community that make up the national geography.
Recognition to the “People’s Party”
The theme in the speech of the parliamentarians was also developed towards the recognition of Acción Democrática as a protagonist of the struggles for freedom and democracy, Romulo Betancourt, Romulo Gallegos , Raul Leoni , Jaime Lusinchi and Carlos Andres Perez. The scene was propitious to show support for the “People’s Party” Acción Democrática, which throughout its 79 years of history has been ingrained in the hearts of Venezuelans . Likewise, the members present expressed their categorical support to the General Secretary of the party, Henry Ramos Allup, as well as to its National Directorate.
