The 4th court against terrorism, headed by Judge Mascimino Márquez, ratified the custodial (detention) measure against Deputy Freddy Guevara, during the midnight presentation hearing in which the supposed crimes previously established by the Public Ministry of the regime were ratified: Terrorism, association to commit a crime and treason.
The Deputy was present at the marathon overnight hearing held from 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 14th to 5:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 15th, where his driver, Freddy Jhon Manuel Acosta Gil, also was presented to the court. He was issued a precautionary measure for resisting the authority and must pay bail to be released.
The deputy defense team, made up of doctors Omar Mora Tosta, Theresly Malavé and Juan Luis González, reported that the court established the ‘El Helicoide’ as a place of detention, where his driver will also remain until he pays the bail.
Dr. Omar Mora Tosta reported that Freddy Guevara is intended to be related to the case named in the file as “Operation to Liberate La Vega”, where they say they have obtained information in some chat messages from a phone that they got. “There is no type of evidence that supports these accusations so the defense team’s job will be to dismantle those false assumptions on which they want to base this new process against Freddy.”
Freddy Guevara’s lawyer assured that he is in good condition and sends a message of strength and faith to his family, his comrades in struggle, and to the entire country. “He has asked us to convey to Venezuela and to the world that he knew perfectly well what he was facing and the risks entailed in the work he was doing for the rescue of democracy. That he is not sad, that he is strong , and that he is going to bear this arbitrary detention until he is free.”
