The shortage situation at Merida service stations has intensified. The Merideños have to remain queued up to 9 days, specifically in the Campo Elías municipality, to be able to refuel and is causing even health problems.
Fausto Celis, a Merida citizen, said: “Yesterday I my blood pressure 185-105. I had to go to the house in the afternoon because in that state I couldn’t take it and just like me there are many people. For those of us who stay at night, many can’t sleep, cars are moved. There is always the fear of being robbed or of an accident happening.”
Pablo Guerrero, spent more than five days waiting to refuel. “This is a very big humiliation for the people of Merida, particularly for those of us who live in the city of Ejido”, said Guerrero at the same time that he stressed that there is no information on the waiting lines, there is no security, extortion by the the military is permanent, they go hungry, thirsty, hot, cold, and they must remain there with sun and rain for days on end and no gasoline.
Felipe Ruiz, another inhabitant of the city, had been waiting for five days, but despite the fact that the service station appeared on the schedule for supply, he did not know if he would succeed. His vehicle was already running on only reserve to reach the service station.
The fuel shortage situation in the state of Mérida is affecting all sectors, public transport does not escape the problem, as diesel oil is also scarce on some occasions. Fuel shortages are the fault of Nicolás Maduro’s regime that destroyed oil production.
