The indifference of Nicolas Maduro’s regime towards Venezuela’s health personnel has caused serious consequences among Venezuelan doctors and nurses who risk their lives and those of their families because they do not have the necessary protective equipment to deal with the pandemic.
The workers of the nursing staff of the Luis Ortega Central Hospital located in the state of Nueva Esparta, have denounced that they are unprotected in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The union has been demanding, for more than a month and a half, from the authorities in the main sentinel center of the island the necessary supplies to protect themselves and not to continue exposing their lives and those of their families.
“We have been in this situation for more than a month, because they do not give us the security equipment and barriers to be able to attend the users who assist this institution,” denounced Carmen Salázar, a nurse at the hospital.
The response of the authorities at the care centre has been null and void, while cases of contagion continue to increase on the islands of Margarita and Coche.
The union warns that they could paralyze their work and even resign en masse if their claims are not addressed.
