Nicolás Maduro’s regime was in charge of destroying, not only the health, economic or oil system. The education system in the country has suffered a wear and tear for years that keeps teachers and students on alert continuously.
The Nueva Esparta Teachers Union, assured that the State is not ready to resume classes in person.
Multiple educational centers suffered further damage during the pandemic and were even looted.
Alcides Salazar, President of the association, assured that Maduro’s regime only cares about its political projects while ignoring the needs of educators and students.
“The conditions are not right to continue the school year,” he said.
In addition, the institutions continue to suffer damage to their infrastructures and failures in basic services such as water and electricity.
Due to the lack of good Internet service, it is impossible for them to offer classes at a distance.
Teachers do not have a decent salary either. Their salary is not even $ 4 a month, which prevents them from meeting their basic needs.
