Authorities of the College of Nursing in Carabobo State demanded the revision of the salary policy, due to the effects of the economic crisis that they suffer daily and the miserable salary to which Nicolás Maduro’s dictatorship subjects them.
The healthcare workers reported that the salary of a professional in the area is between 5 to 6 dollars a month, an amount that is not enough to cover basic needs.
Julio García, President of the College of Nursing in Carabobo, demanded that the salary of nurses be at least $300 per month to be able to meet basic needs.
“Similarly, in the state of Carabobo it has been known about the generation of dollar funds for different healthcare centers, where people are paid $ 20 a week, so we want to request that this upgrade be given to all nurses in the Carabobo State. There cannot be first-rate patients and second-rate nurses,” García said.
In addition, nursing professionals must also face the lack of sanitation in hospitals and deficiencies in personal protective equipment, surgical supplies, and cleaning materials.
“The deficit of protective equipment is in the order of 70% and of surgical material for our activity is in the order of 80%,” added the President of the College of Nurses in Carabobo.
Finally, they denounced that many healthcare institutions in the entity are in precarious conditions, such as the Hospital de Carabobo, which has more than 65% of the areas closed, for which they demand the Cayapa plan, in hospitals, not only limits its activity to painting the facilities, but include comprehensive maintenance in all healthcare centers.
