The NGO Rescate Venezuela, thanks to the support of the private company Goya Foods, delivered a total of 3072 cans of black beans to 5 charities located in the states of Aragua, Capital District, Miranda and Vargas. With these donations, about 700 people, including children and senior citizens, benefited from the different health centers where the NGO made deliveries.
The first delivery was made at the Candelaria Family House of the Franciscan Brothers of Cruz Blanco, in the state of Aragua, where a population of approximately 25 elderly adults resides. Mr. Lucas Carmona, 83, and resident of this home, thanked this help provided by Rescate Venezuela indicating that “in these difficult and trying times this help has come, and notice that this will be very good for us here.”
A few minutes from this home, another beans delivery was made, this time to the Casa Hogar Monseñor López Aveledo, which works thanks to the efforts of Sister Olga López, who thanked the gesture of Rescue Venezuela affirming that “the grandmothers that reside here will feel very happy for this donation, and hopefully God will give you health and all who make this help possible.”
Jesús Silva, a member of Rescate Venezuela in the state of Aragua, said that “these donations will become a vital part of the diet of these grandparents, and today our efforts are focused on being able to give a helping hand to those institutions that need our help so that they can continue helping.”
A donation was also made to the Casa Hogar La Milagrosa, located in Guatire, Miranda state, which has been operating since 2007 to serve children between the ages of 1 and 16 living in the streets or with homes heavily affected by the complex humanitarian emergency. In this institution the donation was received by its director, Sister Maria Olga, who in addition to thanking the gesture, said that “these beans will be of great benefit to the children of the home because many times the only food they consume in any day is what they get here.”
In the Capital City, Rescate Venezuela visited the Josefina Nieto Senior House, located in La Vega, to deliver 30 boxes (720 cans) of black beans. In this institution there is a dining room for more than 150 older adults that operates 3 times a week. The coordinator of Rescate Venezuela in Caracas, Ángel Subero, explained that with this donation they hope to benefit the grandparents who attend this institution to receive lunches, so they have the opportunity to take a meal home.”
The last donation of beans was made to the Church of the Parish of Punta de Mulatos in Vargas state, in this entity there is a canteen for children and some older adults who live in the parish and do not have the necessary resources to feed adequate meals. This dining room serves approximately 210 weekly meals.
From Rescate Venezuela, they hope that the institutions benefiting from these donations can continue to provide the help and services that have been compromised by the complex humanitarian emergency that the country is experiencing. From the NGO they also affirm that in the next few days they will continue to carry aid of this type to more institutions.
