San Cristóbal Hospital’s Staff Deficit Worsens Amidst the Fight Against Covid-19

In addition to the serious hospital crisis that Venezuela is going through, there is also a deficit of personnel. Healthcare professionals have emigrated or have dedicated themselves to other activities to survive in the midst of the drama that the country is going through.

In the Central Hospital of San Cristóbal the lack of personnel continues to affect the care of patients who come for various pathologies.

The lack of more than 800 nurses in the main sentinel hospital in Táchira State, every day puts at risk the lives of dozens of patients, who are not receiving timely and adequate care, just when the growth curve turns positive and cases of COVID-19 jump.

The majority of healthcare workers have migrated to other countries in recent years due to low salaries, shortage of supplies and lack of transportation.

The situation in the country’s health care centers could worsen and have fatal consequences in the next few days, producing a major collapse due to the work overload to which the personnel who continue to work are subjected.
