The irresponsibility of the regimes of Hugo Chávez and Nicolás Maduro devastated small and medium sized businesses leaving a few to survive and fight against the economic collapse.
In the Jorge Hernan Recio Municipal Market in San Juan de los Morros, Guarico State, basic services and security do not exist.
Their workers reported that they have not had drinking water service for more than 10 years and that they are surviving on a broken pipe near the site.
Pedro Ilarraza, a worker in the market, explained that the water is necessary for them to work normally. He also reported irregularities in the area.
“My colleagues have been tied up in the bathroom,” said Ilazarra about a violent incident in the market.
The facilities are not properly maintained either. This has led to the collapse of the drains and damage to the roofs. Some of the structures are so damaged that they are about to collapse.
