During a day of peaceful protest by the Unitary Platform in Lara a banner was made in support of the Freedom of Political Prisoners.
The meeting point was Av. Vargas with 19th Street in the center of Barquisimeto. In this meeting participated the political parties Acción Democrática, Voluntad Popular, Primero Justicia and Encuentro Ciudadano.
“Democracies as a form of government let the people express themselves by exercising their freedoms, the right to feel and think differently, the right to human respect in all its dimensions. From Lara, we demand the release of political prisoners, in a democracy there are no prisoners, in a democracy there is Freedom,” pointed out Deputy Edgar Zambrano.
Deputy Zambrano also assured that from ‘Acción Democrática’, sectional Lara , they constantly work on the defense of human rights, constitutional guarantees and political rights. They tirelessly raise their voices for freedom and democracy.
Likewise, the Regional Political Coordinator of ‘Voluntad Popular’, José Ángel Ocanto, reiterated that his party supports the terms of the National Salvation Agreement, despite the attacks currently suffered by its leadership.
“We reiterate our firm adherence to the terms of the National Salvation Agreement. Furthermore, we protest against the attacks on the ‘Voluntad Popular’ leadership, evidenced by the recent imprisonment of Deputy Freddy Guevara,” he stated.
