This Monday, a meeting between students, professors, technical, administrative and labor staff was held in the Aula Magna of the Central University of Venezuela to defend the autonomy of this institution.
The meeting comes after the illegal ruling of the usurper Supreme Court of Justice that unconstitutionally ordered to annul the internal elections of that house of studies and reconvened them in six months.
Given this arbitrary and illegal measure, the Professors Association denounced that the dictatorship seeks to take away autonomy from the university and so the student community united to address the threat.
“Today, from the UCV, the Venezuelan university stands up and raises its voice to defend university autonomy, truth and freedom as fundamental values of its essence”, said the second vice president of the National Assembly, Stalin González.
“It is in the university where the pillars of democracy are cultivated, that is why defending it is everyone’s job. Without education there is no future, future that is fundamental for the construction of our country. They are our redoubt of freedom and plurality”, he said.
